Hunter the Super Jujitsu Blackbelt!

Chad, here are the pictures I promised of Hunter fighting last night at jujitsu. He took down the biggest guy in the class and forced him to "tap out" which was really exciting! As you look at the pictures, they make look blurry...that is because of the speed the boys were moving. It was an intense fight! There are two new boys, brothers, who just joined the class that are closer to Hunter's size/age. They have martial arts training, so Sensei Floyd says they will keep Hunter on his toes and challenge him to work hard. It is always good to get new fighters in the class; complacency is no way for Hunter to improve. Courtney wore her Navy sweats/shirt you bought her tonight under her AWANAS vest; she also wore her pink "Navy" socks. I forgot to take a picture, but she looked pretty cute! Graham made some sweet Valentine's at Cubbies tonight and came home with a special snack that Ms. Liz gave him on the way home. (The kids love it when Ms. Liz, Carter, Emma, and Ben take them to AWANAS on Wednesday nights!) Graham asked me again today how many more days until daddy comes home...I still haven't found the best way to explain that to a 4-years-old boy that adores his Navy dad...I guess the point is for you to know you are loved and missed by everyone here. On a personal note, today is February 10th...Do you remember what happened one week and 17 years ago?!? Hard to believe, but that was the first time we spoke. I hope that puts a smile on your face...it certainly does mine. I miss you and think about you with every step I take, lunch I pack, or question I answer (and you know there are a lot of questions asked in this house!). Can't wait for your next phone call and for you to come home!

  1. I noticed the part about your little one asking when daddy is coming home. I made a paper link chain for our house and Thomas refers to it as "the colors" because it's multi colored and I just tell him that for each color on the wall is a day daddy will be gone. He's a little younger than Graham but it's helped him out so I'm sure something visual would help him out. Maybe even something that he can help remove at the end of each day to mark that daddy is one day closer to returning. Good luck it's so hard with the little ones.

  2. You know what, you are right. I loved your paper chain, but our house is for sale, so I have tried to make things as presentable as possible. Maybe I need to do something on a smaller scale...thanks for making me think about this!
